DIY Fall Leaf Garland

Continuing the theme of embracing fall, I made some paper leaf garland last week. It was really easy and it creates a nice trim along the entrance to our kitchen.

What I used:

Leaf die-cuts (from Michaels)
Thread
Scissors
Yarn

When I was at Michael's, my envision was some kind of glittery or metallic leaf garland. I looked at gold scrapbook paper, glitter glue, metallic paints and leaf-shaped paper punches, feeling a bit overwhelmed. Then, I found the perfect package of die-cut leaves. Already cut, already glittery. Sold. If you want to go the completely handmade route and make your own cut out leaves, I commend you. But in this household, ain't nobody got time for that.
I threaded a needle and wove it in and out of the sides of each leave. The leaves were made of thick cardstock so it was easiest for me to actually push the paper onto the needle, rather than pushing the needle through the paper. Make sure the thread runs against the back of the leaves, not the front.
Once I strung the entire packet of leaves (there's about 50) onto the strand of thread I tied off both ends with a bow of thick gold yarn. And it's ready to hang!

Here are some other ways to embrace Fall:
Go apple picking and make an apple crisp
Make things using real leaves
Complete this Fall to-do list
Bake the best pumpkin chocolate chip cookies ever
Get festive with candy corn nails

Can you tell I frickin' love this time of year?
