Easy Latte Recipe from Home

I'm so excited to share this with you guys. I had mentioned back in this post that we don't have a coffee maker, and sometimes I just can't get motivated to leave the house to run to Starbucks. One of my lovely readers suggested making lattes at home. It made me have a "why didn't I think of that?" moment.
This is seriously the easiest way to make a delicious, foamy latte from home. You don't need a coffee maker. You don't need a milk frother. The only thing you need to create this frothy treat is a common blender!

Ingredients
Milk
Instant Coffee
Sugar/Vanilla Extract
Blender

I used Starbucks Ready Brew in Mocha. Use two packets instead of the one that it calls for to create an extra strong coffee. Heat up about 1 1/4 cups of milk on the stove or in the microwave (I used the microwave). Pour the heated milk into a blender and blend for about a minute. My blender actually had the setting "aerate" which is exactly what you want (putting air into the milk to create the bubbles). Heavier milk will foam better. I used 2%. Pour the foamed milk into the cup of coffee, add vanilla or sugar for taste, and that's it! I added a dash of cocoa powder on top of mine to bring out the mocha flavor of the coffee. It was delicious and so easy, I couldn't even believe it. Looks like we don't need an espresso machine anymore. ;]

  1. GET. OUT. Seriously?!?!? I will so need to try this. All we have is the family Keurig which we LOVE, but ya know, can't really "brew" a pot of coffee, etc.

    Thank you for posting this!!!

  8. This is awesome.

Now if you had one of those magic bullets you could put the coffee right into your foamy milk.

When I get desperate and want something slightly fancy for my coffee - I grab my milk container and shake it like a mad woman until it gets a little foamy and top my coffee with it.

  9. My trick to foam the milk (since I don't have the right machine/tool for it) is:

Pour 1-2 finger of milk on a french press, pump it a little, and voila! Foamy success.

  10. Wonderful idea! Your recipe is the perfect reason to pull out that blender I rarely use. ;D

I always do milk on the stove, and a splash of coffeemate creamer in the milk... high heat, and just keep whipping for a minute or so. not so scientific but totally delish and doable :)
