I'm back to the Blog Every Day In May Challenge today! Did you notice I missed yesterday? I missed Day two. Day TWO! Weak Jules, weak. Truth be told, it has been a damn crazy week and most of my time has been spent with my best friends, aka: cards.
Anyways! Here I am, ready to bend the rules (just a little more) on this blogging challenge and focus on Saturday's topic "Your Favorite Quote and Why You Love It."
These lyrics are from the song Twilight by Vanessa Carlton. I saw them some where, I don't remember where, my junior year of college. I loved them and immediately put them in my AOL Instant Messenger "profile." (Did anyone else live on AIM through high school and college? I was obsessed, especially in college when my best friends and (ex)boyfriend went to different schools.)
These lyrics have always stuck with me. They represent so much: growth, strength, optimism, perseverance. There's something to be said about being able to say good bye to your past and move forward. And although you will face challenges along the way, you won't let that stop you. It can be applied to so many aspects of life. I just love that message, so much in fact, that I've thought about getting a tattoo of one of the lines (still thinking about it actually) (do you have any tattoos? I've always wanted one).
Have a happy weekend! I'm planning to relaxxx, hopefully, so I'll see you Monday! xo JA
Don't forget! Google Reader is peacin' out! Be sure to:

I was one of those that was perpetually glued to AIM (and MSN) in HS. My mother thought I must be chronically ill or something that I never left the house -- surprisingly, though, some of those friendships I made long distance have been the ones to stick around.
ReplyDeleteLove the lyrics! Thanks for sharing them, Julie.
I was also glued to AIM, and would love a tattoo of lettering as I think writing can be so beautiful. You picked such a lovely quote too XX

loooove this quote! and yes, like you i was obsessed with AIM! good ole instant messaging.
ReplyDeletep.s. btw i don't know if it's just my computer, but the suggested links on this post are directed to Jenni's blog instead of your own. unless you meant to set it up that way. if so disregard this. ;) love you!
I love that! I was ALWAYS on AIM too! haha I vote you get it tattooed on ya! I have 9 tattoos :) The only lyrics I have are a Times of Grace song called Hope Remains.
ReplyDelete"You're not alone. Don't lose sight. We will rise above."
love this quote! and yes, I was huge into AIM in college....too funny. I thank the universe daily that Facebook did not exist when I was in college - the last thing I want is a digital record of every drunken night, break up, friend fight, etc :).
ReplyDeleteThat is very inspirational. Happy moth of May! Yay! :D

This is such a great one! And I totally forget about Vanessa Carlton.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely adding this one to my collection:) Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Alyson
Great quote! I've been debating joining in on the blogging challenge for the past couple days and I finally took the plunge today! Favorite quote is a good ice breaker challenge day I think :)
ReplyDeleteSO you just posted one of my all time favorite songs.. her voice is haunting in this song.. but outside of that, it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteand my oh my, you're pretty damn blogger famous my dear.. 3,323.. your blog crushes mine. but lets not fight about it.
K?
Absolutely beautiful. And, yes, I have three tattoos: a lily with my kids' names, a peacock, and a custom piece of lace since I love to sew. It's not as scary as it seems. I have two more I want, then I will be done.

I've never heard the song, but I definitely was all up on AIM in college, haha! :) But poignant lyrics! Perseverance, I'm learning, is one of the most important life skills to have! Thanks for sharing! :)

It's lovely, and it has such deep meaning. Vanessa Carlton has been a favorite for years, and all her songs are so touching.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a great tattoo idea. I have none myself, but I think I want some type of saying or verse that holds great meaning for me, too.
I love this quote! I also thought about a tattoo. A lot. However, I'm afraid that it will annoy me after a while or that it will fade or stretch or something else happens that will make it look ugly. I'm sometimes such a chicken!
